The Vietnam Tourism Association (VTA) held a ceremony in Hanoi on July 5 to announce the top ten travel agents and hotels in Vietnam in 2007.
This is the highest prize for the Vietnamese tourism sector, which is given annually to honour the top ten travel agents and hotels.
From April 15 to May 20 nearly 40,000 evaluation papers were delivered to well-known tourist sites, travel agents and hotels nationwide. The organizing board also received more than 1,000 independent opinions through their telephone hot line. From the results of the survey, ten travel agents and ten hotels were ultimately selected.
The top ten hotels providing the most impressive services in 2007 were the Caravelle the Rex, the Majestic Grand hotel and the First Hotel in Ho chi minh city the Melia hanoi the Sofitel plaza hanoi the Nikko hanoi the Sofitel metropole hanoi and Ana mandara Nha trang
Top ten travel agents were Saigontourist, Exotissimo-Cesais Tourism Joint-Venture, APEX Vietnam Vietnam-Hanoi Tourism Joint Stock Company, Ho Guom-Diethelm Joint Venture, Ben Thanh Tourism Company, Tan Dinh-Fiditourist Joint Stock Company, Hoa binh Tourism Company, Huong Giang Travel Agent and Orient Tourism and Trade Company.
This year, the VTA presented two additional prizes based on survey results from their website http://www.vietnamtourism.com.vn. According to these results, the hotel providing the best services in 2007 was Yasaja-Saigon-Nha Trang Hotel in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa and the number one travel agent was Sasco Tourism Company.
At the ceremony, deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Chien Thang affirmed that in recent times hotel and travel agent operations have developed strongly, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development. In the first half of 2008, despite difficulties worldwide, the Vietnamese tourism sector still maintained a high growth rate with 2.289 million foreign visitors and nearly 10 million domestic tourists. At the current rate, it is predicted that Vietnam will welcome 4.5-5 million foreign visitors in 2008.
